I was just talking yesterday about why it’s permissible to talk aloud on the train home from nyc to suburbs but in the morning it’s punishable by death... in my mind it should be the same principle but that’s probably why I also score 1% conscientiousness on the big 5.

Not really an analogy though... just a comparison. Tests may prove that point, but the question is why is it different? It's all unwanted noise, so why is one deeply disturbing? And when you determine that, then you can assign fault to the speaker or the annoyed.
