Your example reminds me of how @ScottAdamsSays annoys me by stating the use of analogy means the lack of an argument. They are rhetorically useful as propadeutic to thought, and exist on a continuum of false analogy to tautology. @Steve_Sailer

I took 1 IQ test and got 165. Thought that was high. Took a 2nd to confirm and got 145. Surprised at the spread, so I took a 3rd which gave me 156. These tests are not accurate enough to be making the kind of judgments I see all the time on the internet.

IQ tests have different grading schemes. A score of 140 on one test can be equivalent to 130 on another. So you can't really compare IQs at a granular level unless the same test was taken by all.
