Am I in the same category as an NBA center? Our "categories" are arbitrary. And I see no reason one artificial category gets a first place trophy and another (short male basketball players over 60) is ignored.

Ok let's try it again: do you propose, that since all there is to sports, is unfairness; then we SHOULD abolish categorizations, based on (valid, non-arbitrary) group distinctions? That seems to be your stand, but I don't want to misrepresent your position.

Why would I care either way what sports leagues do? The market will sort it out.

Again...imo this is not about fairness. It’s about competitiveness. The most talented professional female athletes deserve recognition and a livelihood. Under Scott’s “plan” they would simply disappear. I don’t get why this is such an interesting idea. What is to be gained?

That is not his "plan" - he explained he is fine with whatever markets dictate (and nobody "deserves" anything) But this isn't even self-coherent proposition (reasons given why, but seem to be escaping attention. Logic has this habit; invisible when contradicts us)
