Just me, or does Pulte give off a real scammy vibe? https://twitter.com/pulte/status/1177349019959549952 …

And what do you imagine is the clever scam here? More charity?

Another example of a common complaint I received & would be "scammy": hiring social media influencers under the table to libel those publicly critical. The Clinton Foundation also did a lot of charitable work, but that does not immunize the scammy-ness of their other conduct.

What we’re seeing is consistent with social media drama, outrageous claims, sometimes directionally true, sometimes not. I’m avoiding it as it’s zero sum. Pulte could handle it differently but he’s a guy who got into charity not a PR pro who knows how to handle messaging.

The only legitimate criticism I’ve seen is that he’s doing charity to build his name. While I may not agree, that also doesn’t move me as compelling. I look to outcomes rather than motivations. Others believe charity should be anonymous and I respect that POV as well.

There also appear to be 2-3 people in need who slipped through the cracks. But those were used as hammers against Bill to forward scam narrative. That decision was a loss for everyone as they could have been helped, instead used for page views.

And it is also the case that Code of Vet didn’t dox anyone. A guy they helped posted a screen cap and didn’t think to redact a number. Common error. There is misunderstanding happening, in good faith, and it’s being handled poorly due to the actions of third party drama mongers.

I find it interesting that Pulte has these missteps. It seems like he didn't consult with an attorney before he started.

He ran Pulte Capital but didn't know about sweepstakes/lottery laws? It's just odd.

How many people know lottery/sweepstakes law? I happen to know it because I have managed sweepstakes. The average business person does not. I know that from how many times I'm explained it to people.

Do you think Bill is an average business person? He grew up in a nation wide family business and went into the financial industry. Do you think he didn't have any time in his business career where he didn't consider legal implications?

Successful people rarely call lawyers before taking action. Successful people understand this.
