In those rare instances when the locals had a say, what was the penalty for trafficking Opium in China during the Opium Wars? That seems to be the number one flashpoint in their history as taught. A good comparison.

Because it would save lives? Because they deserve it? Both? You won me over from my innate innumeracy, I see the utility in designating Fentanyl labs as military targets, but how far down the causal chain do we send the hangman? Stopping just short of the user?

Because it signals that fentanyl is not like ordinary (and bad enough) drugs. It is a weapon of mass destruction sent by China (mostly) via Mexico. This guy sided with China in the destruction of American lives...for money. He needs to become a cautionary tale, the hard way.

Completely agree. I may take it a step further and say they deserve the death penalty if found guilty.
