Thought experiment: If NEW gun purchases with high capacity clips required insurance, the way autos do, would that effectively price most young males out of the market because of risk? We'd still have plenty of weapons, but mostly owned by the safest demographics. Discuss.

Increasing the friction on gun purchases also increases the likelihood of alternative weapons being used. There are devices that are more lethal and more accessible than guns. We are likely to see an increase in their use regardless of any friction on guns.

Gun insurance makes poor people more vulnerable to violence, because they are more likely to be a victim of violent crime. Not worth the risk.

The only friction we should be providing already exists, and in more than an abundant supply. Keep murder illegal, and prosecute the crimes with fervor.
