It seems @ScottAdamsSays has insurance to protect himself from the government’s reaction to his speech. Oh wait, no. He has insurance to maintain his lifestyle and income when his dumbass inevitably says something stupid and everyone stops listening to him. That’s different.https://twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1172540261802496000 …

I literally have speech insurance because in my case I am at high risk. You need an example that doesn’t make my point for me.

The point is that insuring risk is normal business, including cars, free speech, you name it. You can insure just about anything. The purpose of it is to assign costs where they belong, and in the case of my free speech, the place is me.

No one misunderstands the arrangement you made. We just keep pointing out your error of logic in thinking it is or should be a requirement. It’s a shame you haven’t actually realized that no amount of explanation will change the facts.

How do you insure against a criminal action? It is actuarially impossible.

It's called a surety bond. If a shooter generates social costs, the insurance pays the local police, healthcare, etc. to compensate taxpayers.

Yeah, but there's a difference between having insurance and requiring insurance. There's already insurance that you *can* buy to protect yourself (IE pay for your defense) when a gun you own is involved in some kind of civil or criminal trial.

You can buy insurance for using a weapon to defend yourself currently. It won't defend you if you go on a spree an start killing people. Insurance that did that would be a mistake. Even if it just covered medical bills. Even surety bonds don't cover intentional acts. And wont.
