Thought experiment: If NEW gun purchases with high capacity clips required insurance, the way autos do, would that effectively price most young males out of the market because of risk? We'd still have plenty of weapons, but mostly owned by the safest demographics. Discuss.

Not sure that matters to mass shooting situations. But the point is valid.

The problem is a fraction of a percent of the population as it is. There isn't much to reduce. And the circumstances where the shootings occur are almost universally in places with total bans on all guns. You want a reduction in those areas, you need more armed citizens
