Thought experiment: If NEW gun purchases with high capacity clips required insurance, the way autos do, would that effectively price most young males out of the market because of risk? We'd still have plenty of weapons, but mostly owned by the safest demographics. Discuss.

That reply definitely makes sense. It’s a have your cake and eat it to response. It’s a yeah, but. Yeah, but, it’s different when I do it. 500K people use guns defensively to 300K offensive uses. Defensive use reduces frequency and severity of injury. So make it harder.

Why not flip the question? Given that an armed citizenry is the last bastion against tyranny, what is the "minimum effective dose" for such goals? Why not define that as the beginning of where our rights start?
