Thought experiment: If NEW gun purchases with high capacity clips required insurance, the way autos do, would that effectively price most young males out of the market because of risk? We'd still have plenty of weapons, but mostly owned by the safest demographics. Discuss.

So it's purely based on gender discrimination?

The cost of the insurance would be purely based on risk assessment. Gender could be a factor. It would be up to the insurer.

[Borrow your wife's gun if you're in mortal danger.] Problem is that the insurance cos. will jack up your wife's rates -- just like when you have a teenager in the household with a driver's license.

wife's gun is essentially the husband's gun. Same household. Access is unlimited. What prohibits the male from using the wife's gun for illegal purposes? Why would the wife be exempted from the costs while married? Why is it assumed the male will participate in such activities?
