Thought experiment: If NEW gun purchases with high capacity clips required insurance, the way autos do, would that effectively price most young males out of the market because of risk? We'd still have plenty of weapons, but mostly owned by the safest demographics. Discuss.

It is true that young men oftentimes price themselves out of auto insurance w/ irresponsible behavior. Your point of requiring insurance for firearm paraphernalia is interesting but I’m concerned it’ll be used to price such products out of most people’s reach, including firearms.

We are in a environment where driver’s licenses are made available to illegal migrants many of them will be uninsured in violation of law but the sanctuary cities will excuse it. Yet the NRA is a “terrorist organization.” Requiring insurance may be used to attack the 2nd A right.

So, hypothetically, we have an aspiring criminal who wants to buy a gun. He goes to the gun store and says "I'd like the Glock with a 17 round magazine" and the dealer says "Not without insurance, young man!" And that's it, crime stopped?

Young men are more likely to commit a crime, period. Quit trying to infringe on constitutional rights by making them into a privilege.

Why are young men more likely to commit gun crime? Answering that question is the solution’s premise, not gun insurance.
