This theory is inaccurate and slanderous. You should delete it. I have had extensive private conversations with Bill on his intentions, both before his philanthropy and during, and I can confirm he’s in it to stimulate giving. There is no profit motive. He doesn’t need profit.

I don’t doubt that his intentions are sound, but at the end of the day it’s a clever way to skirt taxes via charitable donations. Not necessarily a bad thing, but to pretend otherwise is disingenuous.

That's the most ridiculous theory so far. No one donates money to save on taxes. That would be dumb.

I think the idea of it being a data harvesting scam takes the cake for most ridiculous, but we can agree to disagree. In any event, charitable donations and philanthropic gifts often do confer tax benefits. If Bill’s case is different, then I stand corrected.

No, in no case does a charitable contribution save more on taxes than it costs in donation. And almost none of Bill’s gifts so far are the deductible type.

Make no mistake, the unhappy work to create other unhappy people to prevent the happiness pursuers from helping others to start finding happiness. This conduct is as old as life itself and has no party affiliation. https://read.amazon.com/kp/card?asin=B07T4H29J4&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_RA3hDbNJZ5MD0 …pic.twitter.com/k4CPDHuS31

I don’t believe he is necessarily trying to save money. My theory was more along the lines of giving to individuals in need -vs- sending those same funds into the abyss of the federal government come tax season. At least, this would likely be my preference if tax laws allowed.

Unless of course it is data harvesting in which case it's a business expense and deductible against profits 🤔

It doesn't have to be data harvesting to be a business expense. It could be considered a marketing expense.

Let's also remember that people get the same tax deduction for advertising as they do for donating.

It’s obvious he is not doing this to save money on taxes. It’s such a small amount. His businesses generate millions most likely, in Real Estate holdings or stock. Or Corporate value as a shareholder. The value to him is in gaining ‘traction’ with Twitter followers.
