Letting the NRA determine gun laws is as good a system as letting immigrants decide our immigration policies and Facebook deciding who becomes president. We do all three. How about our government does some fucking work for a change.

The history of U.S. gun laws is a story of gun rights being diminished by government one thin slice at a time, and the NRA and other organizations trying to limit the damage. The NRA was founded in 1871. The NRA-ILA (NRA's lobbying arm) wasn't even created until 1975.

"We do all three"? The NRA wasn't behind NFA 1934, GCA 1968, or the 1994 assault weapons ban, to name three. That was all government "doing some work for a change", as you put it.

Did the NRA target any Republicans for destruction because of those laws? If not, they approved.
