Letting the NRA determine gun laws is as good a system as letting immigrants decide our immigration policies and Facebook deciding who becomes president. We do all three. How about our government does some fucking work for a change.

Wrong. The government is self-interested. Their mission at every level is to extend their own reach and power. It's only to the extent that we are able to keep political forces of all kinds involved in the process that we check this power they seek.

Every organization is self-interested. The NRA is mostly funded by gun makers.

You have a typo. "makers" should be "owners"

Again, who cares? Gun makers also represent me in the sense they make a product available to me I need. We need their voice at the table just like we need many others to limit the government's power of coercion against the individual. Think China. 0 individual rights

Do you generally prefer private industry making decisions instead of elected representatives, or only on this topic? NRA is mostly funded by gun makers.

Elected officials HAVE made the decision on this topic, and you just don’t like it. That’s not the same thing as elected officials not making the decision.

It's not a "decision" if the alternative is losing your job. No Republican can stand up to the NRA and stay on the job.

Sorry, but "NRA Evil" arguments don't cut it. Very complex issue. In my blue state, the NRA is not a factor. Gun rights are protected and expanded by local grass roots orgs. If you study state right to carry laws, they have been driven largely by local grass roots

Your criticism of your hallucination that I said the NRA is evil is noted. If any of this circles back to my opinions, let me know.

Apologies for poor wording. Not my intent to credit you with saying this. It's been perpetuated by those who want to limit the right of self defense. Demonizing the NRA is a convenient bogeyman. I don't think you are in this camp. Hopefully you are still studying the issue.
