Letting the NRA determine gun laws is as good a system as letting immigrants decide our immigration policies and Facebook deciding who becomes president. We do all three. How about our government does some fucking work for a change.
Every organization is self-interested. The NRA is mostly funded by gun makers.

If true, who cares? Gun makers and the NRA don't have the power of coercion. That power alone belongs to the gov - to arrest, to jail, to garnish, to take property, and even to kill. We desperately need forces outside the gov to temper and limit the power their power.

One need only to look at history to see this, but the blazing example right in front of our face is Hong Kong & China. On most days, I believe we face a dark future of totalitarianism world wide because we neither value nor understand what it takes to maintain indiv liberty

1/3 NOT true. The NRA is not "mostly funded" by gun makers. Less than 5% of NRA’s operating budget comes from the gun industry including everyone from Bass Pro Shops to Billy’s Gun Shop.https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/11/politics/fact-check-kirsten-gillibrand-nra/index.html …

2/3 The money NRA raises for political purposes comes from donations that average less than $50 from every day Americans from all across the country. The NRA's biggest asset isn't cash but the devotion of its members.

3/3 The claim that the NRA is funded primarily by gun companies is an extremely common falsehood. It's also truly bizarre because the gun industry actually has a trade group they fund. It's called the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

The government being self-interested presents a unique and serious threat to individual liberty. The founders attempted to limit the power of the gov which we have eroded, but organizations like the NRA and Handgun Control play a role in today's world of keeping gov in check

You have a typo. "makers" should be "owners"

But yes, the NRA is corrupt, just like everything else. The question is: Is the NRA more corrupt than the government?
