Please do check this. Many people have not educated themselves about the founding, so when a thought leader, like yourself, makes such a statement, then it should be factual.

At least 7 prominent Founders were not slave holders and some that did own slaves, like Franklin, would practice manumission or setting them free. Further, the Founders did set up areas like Northwest Territory as free, laid path to free slaves in North 1/2

Also Washington freed the slaves he owned. The Custis, or Martha's family, wouldn't do same with theirs. The Founders left it up to the States but did end foreign import of slaves. Easily found in Britannica. Should have ended slavery entirely but thought nation wouldn't happen

Madison, Washington, and Jefferson some of the more egregious founding fathers in the owning slaves department all viewed slavery as an evil institution that was an affront natural liberty and the system of government they created.
