Well cnn hosted him.

CNN always tries to bring both sides - often to its detriment. They had Trump supporters like Jeffrey Lord for a year before they kicked him off.

It’s the only cable news that tries to have both sides on. Ends up being a yelling match because of it.

They gave Richard spencer a time slot to spew his stuff just to try to tie him to trump. He was a nobody before MSM tried to tie him to Trump. By the way, there are 330 million people in the USA and at this “national rally” only 200 neo nazis showed up? Antifa outnumbered them.

Spencer organized the rally that was front page on the news. David Duke attended. Ever wonder why they all of a sudden came out of the woodwork? Alt-right Steve Brannon

These people have been around for a while but the media made them the focus of news to try to bring trump down. Please keep calling us nazis and racists and white supremacists though because it only hurts the dems.

You’re totaling missing the point. The point is these fringe people also heard the “fine people” speech the same way everyone else did.

To clarify, your point is that because in your opinion some white nationalists heard it as a dog whistle, then it must have been a dog whistle. Is that stating your point correctly?

My point is Trump speaks imprecisely such that racists can get behind him while non-racists don’t see anything wrong with it. Both sides can take one speech apart and give him the benefit of the doubt. But taken as a whole Trump has been pandering to the racist vote for yrs.

Confirmation bias looks exactly like what you describe.

You can compare how Trump denounces Duke when he was younger and compare that to his hemming and hawing about Duke’s endorsement of him in 2015. Trump can’t bring himself to denounce Duke. And why is Duke endorsing Trump?
