Ever since the invention of agriculture the vast majority of potential changes would have been for the worse. Long enough for some evolutionary pressure. Cultures that listened to conservatives were more likely to survive than those who listened to innovators.

Yep. Mostly (not generally), when a person lets himself have an opinion, either by lazy default or thru some sort of reasoning process, they now have huge self-emotional support for that opinion, since it is baked into the subconscious, which is 99.999% of the brain.
