Scott, It is going to be difficult for doctors to inform patients how much their procedure is going to cost. Many insurances pay differently, copays vary, balance billing is also variable. Docs can't keep track of it all. Emergency care is especially unknowable.

Scott, you got the plug wrong, low-tech is the safest thing & it would work for ever. E.g, Low-Tech Sprinkler System: a big water tank on the roof, at the bottom a solid wax plug. In case of fire, the heat will melt the wax plug and the water will rush down & extinguish the fire
