I've heard a version of this from over a thousand people so far. The Republic is dead. Trump is the last president who will be more powerful than social media. After him, the masters of the algorithms will pick your leaders and assign your opinions to you. True story. https://t.co/viJIaRmIDG

I don't think nearly as many of them would even notice, since they don't think in over-simplified religious or libertarian terms like "govt is evil", "taxes are theft", etc. American liberals are mostly social-democrats, aka middle-of-the road between socialism and capitalism.

to amend what I said, I don't think most conservatives are extremists, but the rhetoric & message of the modern GOP is extremist: i.e. portraying support for Medicare4All as equivalent to communism, even though every other Western democracy has some type of universal healthcare.

Twitter doesn’t need to shadow ban you from hard left or hard right. It can isolate you from the people with profiles that indicate they can be persuaded by you. The persuadables.

IMHO, with a long career and background in programming, there is no glitch or bug in the follow "function". Social media is non-functional without follow working at 100% - any glitch or bug would be of the highest priority. It's also a basic/simple programming feature.

it's not just about functions, but data, and data synchronization, database placement, database transactions, etc. for efficiency of access, the followers data is possibly distributed in more than one place with redundant copies of the same data that have to be synchronized.
