What about women who have had hysterectomies? Are they allowed to make laws about women’s bodies? How about transgender women? Just trying to understand who’s allowed to do what.

I’m actually not kidding or being snarky. The argument is that no one who can’t get pregnant should make laws about abortion, correct?

We can all agree these laws are being passed by state governments made up of mostly men, will be passed by federal government made up of mostly men and upheld by a Supreme Court of mostly men. Most of them have no idea how women’s bodies work.

This is accurate, although in my state the most recent high-profile bill was sponsored by a woman and signed into law by a female governor.

It should be noted that women and men oppose abortion at equal rates, according to polls. I wouldn’t presume that more women legislators and judges would automatically result in fewer restrictions.

The objective is laws that half the country hates but were arrived at via a credible process. The alternative is laws that half the country hates and are NOT credible.
