This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and “fact check” it. Like the “world ending in 12 years” thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight from The Office so who knows.https://twitter.com/MaxKennerly/status/1127600111952044032 …

"Order now while supplies last!" vs "order if you want to, no rush." A call to action must generate scarcity to be persuasive.
-
Only problem is, there is a lack of scarcity, but plenty of “scare-city”. What AOC lacks in science and history she more than makes up for with angry enthusiasm.

Correct ? she used 12 years because that was from the IPCC report, then she made a hyperbole going from "keeping warming under 1.5c" to "saving the world". The number 12 was not arbitrary, nor a political ploy..

Not so much from an IPCC report, as from a headline. Reality is much more complicated, but math is hard. Which, by the way, does not preclude that it was a political ploy. https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelmarshalleurope/2018/10/08/why-its-misleading-to-say-we-only-have-12-years-to-avert-dangerous-climate-change/#7256ae007806 …
