The article was printed three weeks before the rally. That's not hindsight.

In a local paper. A lot likely did stay away but lot of people came in from out of town. Again, hindsight is 20/20. The alt-right benefited from reckless misuse of “racist” as a label. Who wins on the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf? The wolf wins.

So people traveled from out of town to attend a rally they knew nothing about?

Straw man argument. It’s possible to attend a rally you have imperfect or incorrect information about. It was called “Unite the Right”. Some were there opposing statue removal. Some for free speech. Some were anti-Antifa. And you’ve been given examples of such attendees.

I have not been given examples of these hypothetical people who attended a Nazi rally but were not actually Nazis.

This article explicitly says they were neutral. Not part of "both sides." Jesus.

Free speech isn't a neutral position at a statue protest.

The ACLU also supported the free speech rights of protesters. But I get how the game is played. If he acknowledges there were protesters who were decent people and weren’t Nazis and were on the other side from Antifa, he’d have to acknowledge he’s wrong and Trump wasn’t.
