Leave it to Trump to go out of his way to hallucinate that those United the Right rallies in which a woman was murdered were about Confederate statues to "both sides" the issue, but athletes taking a knee are "sons of b[*]tches" who outta be dragged off the field and fired.

Ugh.... you should work on your analogies. That was weak...

You are attempting to link Statues if Confederate War Heroes to NFL athletes taking a knee for social protest. Those two things have nothing in common

He is comparing Trump's attitude towards two different racial issues. Race is the common factor here. And it's still not an analogy. https://literarydevices.net/analogy/

Hold on player.... there is nothing racial about the a Confederacy. So if you want to try and deflect and say it’s not an analogy, it is still an inaccurate statement.

I'm not deflecting, I'm educating. You used the wrong term. And saying there was nothing racial about the Unite the Right rally, and there was nothing racial about THE Confederacy, is patently ridiculous.

Let me educate you. A very small number of extremist white supremacy groups hijacked the Confederate battle flag as their symbol. That does not mean the views of those extremists are representative of all Confederates. Or do you believe all Muslims are terrorists?

It’s 2019. There are 124 million descendants of the Confederacy in America today (almost 1/3 of population). It is possible for someone to be proud of their Confederate Heritage and not be a racist.

Ok, please define "Confederate Heritage" for me. What specifically are you proud of within that framework?

Better question: Why would anyone be proud of their heritage? I don’t get credit for Edison’s light bulb. I didn’t help.

People often get a sense of identity, belonging, their "place" within society from their culture. I don't think that's inherently illegitimate, but it can merit criticism if it involves whitewashing the culture's history or claiming credit for an individual's accomplishments.

Heritages and cultures are usually social, though, how different persons, institutions, traditions, etc., interrelate to form a larger whole, not merely about claiming the qualities of individuals like Edison or the Kardashians for oneself.
