The issue is simple: in sport, the women's category is a protected division. Men's sport is basically an *open* division. No-one's saying that anyone should be excluded from the open category. Just that women & girls deserve to have a category that they can win in.

Deserve’s got nothing to do with it. But you do actually see her point. Rules are: no nitpicking, no word thinking.

I do not see her point. Take out “deserve” and nothing is left.

Adams dislikes trolling, so one must assume he’s not. Is his point is that anyone should be allowed to compete in any category they want? I mean, it’s a valid opinion. Sports would look different though.

He isn't trolling... Again and again he has said someone has to lose. And something about how athletics aren't important,,, eg they don't matter. (?)) He is right.. I get it.. but I don't like it. I believe in the starfish story.. It matters to the athlete...

But without further specifics his position sees no problem with a 25-year old male competing in the 12-year girl kick-boxing tournament. Yes, someone is going to lose, but that is not the primary or even important point of sports.

Sports has a primary point? I haven't noticed that.

Entertainment. That’s why audience buying into the rules is crucial.

Well, if sports is pointless (valid view) then debating its structure and ethics is pointless too. But here we are. 🙂

Yes, the point is to find out who is the best at competition X. It's all about competence and establishing hierarchies. We make it interesting by making divisions in sex, age, weight, even skills. So we have countless lower lvl hierarchies operating all at once.

More often than not is is simply about $$$$. It is a business, I guess it is entertainment.. at least at the professional level.
