The “fine people” hoax pushers on social media refuse to cite to complete transcript. Such a citation failure is basic sourcing-incompetence. At some point this sourcing incompetence becomes willful.

He said there were fine people in the white supremacist march but he was not talking about white supremacists, but about other people that were also on the march. It’s simple, and that was never the point. Most criticized him for blaming both sides equally for the violence

You're assumption that people base their opinion of Trump and his followers'racism wholly on what they heard (even half of) Trump say on that day, is superficial and self-serving to promote your defense. His words did not occur in a vacuum.
