I have a very long and successful career at doing this sort of analysis on a multitude of engineering products. The reason your game console and computer microprocessors work, is largely due to my error analysis. Scott should be more careful. https://realclimatescience.com/who-is-tony-heller/ …pic.twitter.com/yeF5aKHlx2

If Scott wanted to be completely rigorous about the data and decide based on that, and was able, he would do it and come to the same conclusion all skeptics have. Scott uses the media to guide conversations, experiment with persuasion, test responses. This is not about climate.

You think I could independently evaluate climate science if I just put a little more effort into it? 🙄

Scott, I think you could evaluate a bad-faith effort to ‘cook the books’ of temperature data if you put your mind into it. Don’t need a Ph.D. for that.

But you can read actions and ask questions. Eg: Why did the US temperature record for the 1930s change so much between 1980 and today? Why do the changes always increase 20th century warming? Sound science needs sound data.

Because new heat islands only increase temperatures, never decrease, and changing from morning to afternoon measurements also only increases temperatures. Those are the main adjustments. A few go the other way.

But UHI effects shouldn’t have affected the 30s, only later periods. But the hot, dry 30s were adjusted down, while the post WWII period was adjusted up.
