Prison is supposed to rehabilitate, to turn problem citizens into good citizens, or something. I don't think that works out very well for the vast majority. Sadly. Voting rights? Nope, sorry, I don't think it will help them either.

Well, Scott- you got me re-considering (and I hate that, so it's probably good). But I still worry about unintended consequences, and motivations, eg, extending the right to other disenfranchised persons (think resident non-citizens), and "vote-buying" respectively. 1/2

How about an A/B test on a small population of prisoners to determine if they indeed become "better citizens"? If it's good for HHS and Energy choices, it should be good for a decision this wide-ranging, no? 2/2
