That's because you lost all credibility by imagining nefarious intentions where there is nothing like that in evidence. The Climategate emails that you believe prove intention are where you lost me entirely.

Of course Scott. They are "accidentally" using 50% fake data to turn cooling into warming. No nefarious intent. https://realclimatescience.com/2019/04/understanding-noaa-us-temperature-fraud-2/ …pic.twitter.com/OA3CBeRPUp

Thousands of scientists across the world are all "in on it"? If you hypothesized they were wrong or suffering from confirmation bias, I could take it seriously. But when you go full-tin-hat, everything else you say turns to dust.

Straw man argument. The temperature record is handled by a small handful of people, perhaps a dozen. Would you also argue that "thousands of FBI agents" couldn't have conspired against President Trump? All it takes is for a few key people to misbehave.

Actually, I make that same argument in my upcoming book as a reason to not trust peer review to catch temperature data errors. But it would still be unlikely for a dozen people (per proxy) in different parts of the globe to all be in on this alleged con.

Scott, it was shown just yesterday that four people could magically come up with the same “Easter worshipers” phrase out of thin air. Obviously they coordinated. Is it so much of a stretch for 12 people in the same profession to coordinate as well?

We have lots of history of scientists being wrong at the same time (hole in the ozone, nutrition, etc.). A global conspiracy with this much attention on it is POSSIBLE but highly unlikely. You'd have at least one whistleblower by now. It has been a long time.

There are lots of whistle blowers including Dr, Bill Gray, Judith Curry, Roger Pielke Jr. and David Legates. They get their funding cut off, attacked by politicians, and threatened with prosecution. It is your choice to pretend they don't exist.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK6pYLhcJx4 …

Your argument is that someone from the small group of people behind the tampering would have come forward? That doesn't seem like a very realistic assessment of human behavior. What motivation would they have to incriminate themselves?

But look at disincentives here: No fame (likely public bashing), LOSS of money/job/status, and only saving a colossal waste of money & resources. The other side is grifting and getting rich, and will fight back ruthlessly. Not very appealing to speak out.

Scott, I don't think you're being realistic here. This whistleblower would be universally CONDEMNED by the establishment and their stenographers in the worldwide media. They would be relentlessly attacked bc there's trillions in potential tax $$ at stake here. It's a serious game

Religious devotion to an apocalyptic fantasy VS socialist conspiracy? Which one is most likely? Wait! There's a difference between these two? Whistle Blowing wouldn't work in this case because... They have Pre-Labeled you a Denier! (Persuasion 101)

Remember Kahneman: Wherever there are gaps in understanding, the mind is not blank. It tries to apply narratives - stereotypes - to those gaps. But, what happens when science + science journalists erect an informational wall b/t them + public? http://www.slideshare.net/jeranbinning/thinking-fast-andslow …pic.twitter.com/R5PBLsIeeO

What Kahneman found is that intuition only works if you have a good process to evolve it over time. In the case of science, the scientists + journalists rarely provide all of the context which is necessary to facilitate the formation of accurate intuition.pic.twitter.com/JsvWHLsuCV

Could not those same motivations you site be motivations for continuing to prop up "Climate Change"? Could multiple people in control of data etc be motivated in the same way at the same time?
