I think research in this area is a good idea. But I also know that when you put v complex & expensive technology together with dangerous material plus a long history of failure, you are likely to get more of the same.
-
Exactly. That's why Gen IV is simpler and addresses the problems you recognize from older tech. You're just behind on your knowledge. Catch up with some reading and reassess.

Please read some of the critics of nuclear - who have a 70 yr history of being right- to balance your view.

Nuclear plants built 50 years ago have problems. Gen4 Nuclear plant technology don’t have those problems, and they can use nuclear waste from other plants as fuel.

I think Scott is falling into the trap here of watching his own movie on Gen IV. This industry has lurched from one 'breakthrough' to another which never delivered. Nuclear fusion also.
-
Gen IV is already up and running. You need to catch up before going further.

As someone who has worked in the commercial nuclear industry for more than 40 years all I can do is shake my head at the misinformation.

It is not a matter of being up to date. Even old nuclear built in the 60/70s is safer on a per energy generated basis than wind and solar are. Not that many people fall off of roofs and wind towers, but it takes so many towers to generate what even one reactor generates.
