I don't understand the hot takes saying the right is purposely misinterpreting Omar. During the same speech, she had very strong words to describe the New Zealand attacks. She has demonstrated a pattern of being extremely dismissive of Islamic extremism. https://twitter.com/EdmonOger/status/1117271869361655808/video/1 …

The context I see is that ALL Muslims are being targeted for the actions of a few ("SOME") extremists. IIRC this was exactly what the 9/11 perpetrators intended. But it is (or should be) easy to see how many would imagine a different context. Hopefully she'll learn.

"All Muslims have been taken hostage by Muslim extremists" and now we are under suspicion everywhere in the world, even in the US Instead of treating the criminals as such the US elevated their importance by starting the war on terror Most terror victims after 9/11 were Muslims

I think that Scott makes sense that we should be careful to keep context. In this case, the context is her history as a radical Muslim.

She characterized the greatest attack in US history on American soil as "Some people did something". By choosing these words she provided a window in her soul. She believes being careful not to offend muslims takes priority over the 3,000 dead Americans. Very obvious.
