That's essentially what ISIS says when they take down monuments in conquered territory. I oppose keeping the offensive Confederate statues, but I wouldn't say people who like keeping historical monuments are evil as a rule.

Ahh, cool. It's nice to learn that wanting the removal of statues of people who fought to keep my ancestors enslaved, and which were erected during the height of Jim Crow in response to their immediate descendants wanting civil rights, makes me similar to ISIS.

ISIS has good reasons too. God told them to do it. The problem is that one person's good reason is just nonsense to others. Personally, I'd get rid of the offensive statues and take slave-owners off currency too. But I don't see people who favor preserving history as evil.
