Taking the same actions generally produces the same results, and every action democratic socialists want to take is a socialist policy. How many policies until Venezuela? Where is the line, and more importantly, once the ball is rolling, how is it stopped?

And I realize this is a slippery slope argument, but that's what socialism is - Nobody in Venezuela, not even Chavez or Mudero, wanted the mess that it is now. But that is always how these things end up.
