Remember I told you the Gen IV nuclear technology -- that has no meltdown risk and eats existing nuclear waste for fuel -- is a persuasion problem, not a science problem? A cognitive scientist takes the case to the public. #GreenNuclearDealhttps://twitter.com/sapinker/status/1114608994004414464 …

I've been spreading the word imposts by us congressman and everybody else. I responded to a woman with that, and she said oh I never thought of that I'll have to look it up

It is a pretty great article for what it says, and for what the negative comments in particular say about the public's perception. The negatives are in the minority which is good, but they are persistent and reveal where the fears and misunderstandings remain. Focus is forward.

Pinker elaborated about this quite convincingly in his book „Enlightment now“. It must be noted, though, that the bad rep of nuclear power is the product of reckless behavior by the nuclear industry

I would say the anti-nuclears have been effective. They have worked long hard for it with many bullet points like: "Don’t let the American people forget about Chernobyl"https://atomicinsights.com/anti-nuclear-movement-strategy-circa-april-1991/ …

The only reason old Nuclear reactors exist is because they produce plutonium as a by-product. The old designs where purposefully researched and created so the Army will have material for nuclear bombs. there were no engineering issues creating save reactors 60 years ago.

It's one of the great ironies of our time. The watermelons killed nuclear energy but now desperately need it to carry out their carbon-free energy agenda.
