The point of giving it to the free market is that no one organization has control over all of healthcare. That way we can get the best healthcare possible by competition.

But if it’s the same decisions being made by a corporation, why is that not at least equally bad? It’s more expensive than countries with a single payer model and results in more hardship for people, so where does the value come from?

I think your confusing our current system with one i'm advocating for. Currently insurance companies don't have to be very competitive because they just have to sell insurance for companies. They would be much more competitive if they sold to individuals.

I'm not totally against gov intervention just not total control. I would prefer a swiss model of healthcare.

Switzerland would be better but my understanding is that it’s better because the government dictates the rates that are charged and insurance companies are prohibited from making a profit on most plans

More importantly though people aren't denied treatments they want. In all universal healthcare countries the gov decides if you can or cannot get treatment. They all have denied life saving treatments that people wanted and that is just as wrong if insurance did it.

But insurance companies deny people life saving treatments much more frequently?

Again you go back to the system we have not the system i want. The swiss system doesn't allow such things. You can always switch your insurance there if they don't cover

But you said a nationalized healthcare system leads to a dictatorship, which is absurd. I’m saying that privatized healthcare, without strong intervention from a government means any of the same choices you might call fascist are just being made by a private industry instead

If your point is that it’s just as absurd to think a nationalized restaurant chain would lead to a dictatorship, then I agree.
