There has been a lot of discussion about climate change, & I have emphasized the need for practical, bipartisan solutions. As we seek to maintain electric reliability, keep energy affordable, & address climate change, #nuclear power stands out as one of our very best options.

not only can fission be done safely, there was naturally occurring fission reactors on this planet long before humans were around. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/natures-nuclear-reactors-the-2-billion-year-old-natural-fission-reactors-in-gabon-western-africa/ …

We were told solar/wind were the energy tech of the future. 20 years later, we're left with rusting equipment headed to landfills. Exploding windmills, even. The Senator's proposal should be seriously considered. Education of citizens familiar with Gen 2 is also needed.

Education is key. Lots of people are 10 yrs behind and are conditioned to respond ‘Three Mile Island’ or ‘Chernobyl’ when they hear nuclear.

Probably so. But IMO solar PV is getting cheaper so fast that it will be more cost effective to convert its energy (along with ambient CO2) to gas/liquid fuel and burn them in CCGT than nuclear. Both in terms of energy and actual cost.https://medium.com/@artkilner/carbon-and-capitalism-44b4c58e7032 …

Solar PV requires more and more land surface area and loads of energy storage all required many tons of heavy metals that will make their way into landfills. Nuclear energy is by far the cleanest
