I’m still waiting for the explanation of what caused the spike in warming in the early 20th century since it can’t be blamed on CO2 since that was before man caused a marked increase pic.twitter.com/bcslOnprVm

The plot is accurate, but the commentary is wrong. CO2 was increasing the whole time. I’m not smart enough to guess why temperature would level off after 1945. It doesn’t negate the > 1C change since 1880.

this shows co2 rise slows/stabilize while aerosol keeps increasing so temperatures trackinf the forcing pretty well https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2015-whats-warming-the-world/ …

Aerosols were dampening CO2 influences in the forties?

not surprising, is it? another link that explains it https://skepticalscience.com/How-much-did-aerosols-contribute-to-mid-20th-century-cooling.html …

that and the ghg forcing slowed/stopped rising in that period, maybe due to WWs?

Isn't it possible that World War II contributed? You know, an unprecedented use of fuel and detonation of explosives would increase CO2 and the increase in particles act like a temporary block of sunshine

well iirc the war redirected industry toward the war effort, while the destruction would decline industrial output, so overall this could be rather a net drop

How about the warming leading up to 1940. What caused that? Can’t have been CO2. And what makes us think whatever that was is still going on?

Well on question is what caused the MEASURED cooling around 1940 and why is it mostly in sea temp .. https://skepticalscience.com/A-new-twist-on-mid-century-cooling.html …pic.twitter.com/Bi9mFABCZv

You are falling into the trap with 1940’s aerosol. Correlation is not causation and there are thousands of variables, known and unknown, many improperly weighted, that have not been identified, measured, weighted etc. Presence of uncontrolled variables = invalid equation.

Here is just one recently identified, massive uncontrolled variable.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2017/04/30/a-massive-lake-of-molten-carbon-the-size-of-mexico-was-just-discovered-under-the-us/amp/ …
