What about augmenting history by adding a statue representing a.counterpoint perspective nearby to each? Rather than erasing, it could offer fuller story of the past.
I could agree with that. The only problem I have is that when it comes to war, there are often more than two sides
The word Democrat should be erased too then. Their past is very ugly
There's some truth there for sure.
The statues were offered as reconciliation during the North reconstruction after the Civil War to bring the South into the Union once again Honestly believe there's history of healing that needs enlarging publicly but it's too late New Orleans tore down some beautiful monuments
:^/ We should keep the Statues for the same reason Germany preserves their Concentration Camps. If we start erasing Offensive History, where does it stop? The Left is already trying to erase an Election that they didn't like....
the statues remind everyone we fought a civil war to end slavery, a fact that the American left seems to leave out in favor of identity politics. What happens when every vestige of that time is wiped out?
They are history.
“Because they are offensive”. Boy is that a slippery slope. Who gets to decide what’s offensive? What about the people that find it offensive that the statutes are being taken down? Double standard?
You really didn’t say that did you? I found that a couple of movies that I saw last week were offensive to me. Should they be taken down? I saw a building that was offensive to me because of it’s architecture. Should it be taken down, comrade?
