You “see nothing weird going on with climate” based on what? The five warmest years on record have happened since 2010. Global temperatures have increased on average by about 1C since 1900 with most of that increase in the last 35 years. But you see nothing weird. That’s ok then

I'm sorry David but I have no faith at all in the surface temperature record. Too many unexplained adjustments that have the effect of lowering past temperatures and raising current ones. It's just not believable. Here's an example from today:https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/02/22/changes-to-darwins-climate-history-are-not-logical/ …

Guess what, I'm not a statistician. However I do know that when seemingly every time an adjustment is made it's to lower past temps and raise current temps it makes me suspicious. Doesn't that make you suspicious or do you believe everything the government puts out there?

It’s not the government’s putting it out there. There are enormous numbers of independent scientists proving it every day. You’re “observations” just don’t cut it I’m afraid. You’re no more credible than a flat earther.

David - If I responded in kind with something like "you're a government sycophant who is led around by your nose" would you find that persuasive? We're just two guys talking, there's no reason to get mad and no reason to call someone a flat earther.

Yeah, but no. I was just being lazy. The fact is that many thousands of scientists across the world have proven the link between CO2 and climate change again and again. I have studied sea level change a little. I believe them and not you.

And I really can’t be arsed to provide you with the numbers that you will try and pull apart. If you really want to know then go to a decent source. https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/ …

David - this is one of those weak correlations I was speaking about. As long as the earth has had an atmosphere the climate has changed, the idea that it's changing now does not prove man has anything to do with it.

Statistically significant correlation. We know that CO2 causes heating. We know that more CO2 is in the atmosphere., put there by burning fossil fuels. We know that temperature has risen much more than can be explained by other climatic cycles We have seen sea levels increase

Have we not also seen sea levels decline and sea levels stay the same, depending where you look?

Yes. Where sea levels are going down (eg Scandinavia) it is rebound of the continental crust after the last ice age. Under the weight of I’m thickness of ice the Scandinavian land mass sank deeper into the mantle. Now it’s gone the land mass is rising relative to its surroundings
