You don't think a population can be trained to receive handouts? Long before that's an issue, taxes will destroy incentives and swell the ranks of the takers. The countries you cite as working hybrid systems have all backed off of socialism & have somewhat reasonable tax rates

Scott, I have love for you but biotech companies aren't investing billions of dollars to sell drugs to Canada. As an insider, I know that these companies are willing to sell drugs to Socialized countries at heavily discounted prices because of US profits. Price control kills.

Exactly. One "unseen" aspect of socialism is how much the US subsidizes other markets. For example, prosthetic limbs are made in the US and sold to the UK at a near loss, and a premium is added onto the cost of the US domestic market. The US is literally subsidizing the UK.
