I think one of the best ways to improve healthcare is to specifically make medical school free for anyone that wants to study medicine. Such a program can increase the supply of medical expertise thus lowering the prices. No debt + competition = low costs.

Except there's actually a ton of innovation in healthcare happening in Canada. The free market only puts $ into R&D if they think they can make money on it. A socialist system will put money into R&D because the want results. The moon shot was essentially a socialist program.

I don't think there is an argument against socialism. The real argument should be, "Where do we draw the line?" Do we draw the line are free education, free healthcare, basic income? At what point do we no longer get a social and economic return on or "social" investment?
