Here's one thing I don't get about the #JussieSmollettHoax: Why not just make some shit up? Like, just leave the people to believe it really happened--and they would have because they're NPCs. The fake letter, paying homies to kick your ass, and talking to feds. Y tho?

One should not be surprised that a person willing to do such a thing is too dumb to do it well.

This is funny, but on second thought, is probably not a good line of thought. Its important to consider that most of the hoaxers are far more competent than Smollett, so many get away with it. We should consider the ones exposed as the tip of the iceberg.

How do we know there exist successful hoaxers if by definition they are undetected?

We don't KNOW, but it would be extremely naive to assume we catch all of them. Imagine if you were falsely accused of something, but had no backing evidence (imagine for exampke, if @NewWorldHominin didn't record her grilling).

Would you argue that every shoplifting is detected? And that's not even counting that you have an entire MSM biased towards seeing what they want to see. Assuming we are seeing just the tip of the iceberg seems like a common sense theory.

Nor would I argue that the reason some hoaxes are undetected is because smarter people perpetrated them.

So, you agree with all the theory. Then I'm honestly curious: why did you object to my first claim that we are likely seeing only the tip of the iceberg? I was genuinely surprised at your objection.

Since Trumps announcement there have been something like 70 confirmed hoax hate crimes. Here’s a good list to start with:https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/18/hoax-hate-crimes-list/ …
