The climate scientist response is that the adjustments are about equal in both directions. And the reasons for the adjustments are well-described and public.

That is not true for the US temperature data, and you will not find any scientist involved with it who will make that claim.

Is it now also true that climate science doesn't put much weight on U.S. temperatures which have not moved like other places on the planet?

So they are throwing out data?

Not really right now last I checked they were adding data where it doesn't exist. The claim is that the US is not the world but we have the best coverage and record. It's another skeezy statement in a litany of skeezy statements.

I meant in regard to Scott’s mention of scientists not putting much weight on US data. That’s like throwing it out.

That's not what he meant. The point he's trying to make is that the US isn't the only data set and so the emphasis Tony Heller has on it isn't the same emphasis as climate scientists.

Heller's point is that the US data is the best in terms of record length, station quality and station density. If climate change by CO2 is truly a global atmospheric phenomenon it should show up in the best data set.

“Is it now also true that climate science doesn't put much weight on U.S. temperatures which have not moved like other places on the planet?” Scott Adams Why this for the “best” data? That’s my question.

The theory allows for non-warming regions. If two-thirds of the planet warmed and one-third did not, would it be so odd that the U.S. is in the one-third (just as an example).
