He brushed aside the 2016-2017 events. But put this in perspective: currently, the global mean increase is 0.9, and we are heading to 2.5-3.5 C increase if we go down the Nordhaus plan. Coral survive that? Calamities are undersold if you watch FoxNews.

I am not targetting you @Revlucduck . It is Ridd who is obviously not being truthful for whatever reason. Your sources are very questionable.

I wish skeptics would spend at least 25% of their time being skeptical of so-called skeptics as they do the AGW side. Then we could widdle the arguments down to about 5 good debatable points.

Here's an easy test of who is doing this. I can tell you what Ridd argues, because I've read it. (You'll notice it is generally opinion, not citations to research he has done or evidence he can show.) Can you tell me what the rebuttals to Ridd's claims are from marine scientists?

As another test of whether you are applying skepticism – why is it, do you think, that Ridd is so widely quoted in political media, probably far more in total than any other single marine researcher? Is it because of the success & influence of his scientific work & papers? Which?

Token voices of dissent to unloved scientific findings are elevated in the media for purposes of persuasion and undermining such science, of course. You have said yourself you find it persuasive (on you), right, regardless of whether the dissent is supported with any evidence?

Correct. Both sides are persuasive in isolation. Put them together and neither is persuasive.
