My point is that it isn't persuasive to a non-scientist to say a scientist in one specialty agrees with someone in a different specialty even if both are within climate science. And we know something like half of peer reviewed papers don't stand up to scrutiny after publication.

But it is persuasive to a non-scientist when a scientist in one specialty agrees with someone in a different specialty. They are scientists. They agree on process and proof. It means something to me. It adds weight.

It's better than nothing, but far from persuasive on its own. Half of peer reviewed scientific papers are later debunked. And science knows money/ego/career are bias-makers.

I think in psychology the failure of replication is something like 60%. Of course, that only matters if you think psychology is an actual science.
