Do we need to debate the theory of gravity, the heliocentric theory or that the earth is not flat? Of course, not. It is just a waste of time, same with climate change. The only ones who want to debate it are climate deniers, who won't believe any of the real science anyways.

Is it a waste of time to save the planet from heat death, which I assume you believe is happening? If the path to getting that fixed involves persuading the public, it is the ultimate abdication of responsibility to not annihilate the harmful "deniers" as you see it.

When someone calls me a "climate denier," for doubting either humanity's role or the standard proposals for addressing the issue, I immediately call them a "science denier." I despise that political emotion wordplay has now infected science.

What is a denier? Oxford: "A person who denies something, especially someone who refuses to admit the truth of a concept...that is supported by the majority of scientific or historical evidence." Climate deniers deny the truth "supported by the majority of scientific evidence."

You've heard of climategate, right? When climate scientists vowed to censor actual science that refuted their narrative. Even if they had to change the definition of what peer review was.

ClimateGate is fake news. It is obvious from the quotes taken out of context that the scientists were talking in casual shorthand, nothing more sinister.

          1. India, China, et al., outstrip the US in "greenhouse gases." 2. Even though the US is not a signator of the Paris Climate A., we are on track to the standards as if we were. If this is a global problem, the solution should be focused toward the biggest "polluters."

What quotes? They're emails. “The data doesn’t matter. We’re not basing our recommendations on the data. We’re basing them on the climate models.” – Prof. Chris Folland,

This is a letter from a climate scientist, Dr. Judith Curry, in regards to Climategate. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/11/27/an-open-letter-from-dr-judith-curry-on-climate-science/ …

The climategate emails included a request from a senior member of staff to junior members to delete relevant emails after receiving an FOI request. The UK ICO agreed this was prima facie evidence of a breach of section 77 of the UK FOI Act.

Dig deeper Scott. Accepting an investigation by those who created the need for an investigation should not be even slightly persuasive to you. Investigations must be independent and forensic. This was not.

Scott--You appear to have reached a conclusion about the ClimateGate emails based on a few statements instead of all the available information. To me, that is not an opinion of a serious person. The 48 hour rule applies to you too.
