Challenge for those who agree with the 97% consensus of climate scientists: Listen to this climate scientist criticize climate models and see if you can maintain your faith in their predictions. Leave comments, please. https://twitter.com/hcato1/status/1083396127481843717 …

The skeptics mostly believe that too. The question is about the model accuracy.

I think it stretches the imagination (and I can imagine a lot) to say science can measure ocean temperatures over time in enough places and at enough precision to know what is going on.

Satellite measurements of sea surface temperature are in reasonable agreement with in situ temperature measurements. What is important is the trend. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_surface_temperature …

You believe satellites can measure ocean temperatures at the precision needed?

NASA should write: "As of today, climate forecasting IS an art, derived from the inspired interpretation of data from a loose array of land-based and water-based observing stations, balloons, aircraft and satellites. Over the next 50 years, it will evolve substantially... 2/2

Weather forcasts are trusted today because they have been proven as reliable predictors of future behavior. Climate models are likely 50-100 years away from being trusted as reliable by people with a scientifically healthy level of skepticism.

We need to understand how ocean temperature is changing. It doesn’t have to be an exact measurement to understand the overall trend

That's a question for an expert. That is, a qualified climate scientist whose specialist knowledge relates to that specific subject. So why are you putting the question to non-experts? #AskAPointlessQuestion #ThinkBeforeYouTweet #IfItWasMeantAsARhetoricalQuestionItDidntCutIt

Surface temps? Certainly. We can accurately measure temperatures on other planets in our solar system and develop approximations on planets around other stars. If anything, satellite is data, local measuring points are anecdotes.
