If you don’t understand the processes that have controlled the Earth’s climate in the past, you can’t hope to make valid conclusions about today’s climate.

Makes sense if the past is roughly as knowable as the present. It isn't. But I agree it can give us clues for things to check in the present.

Not what differs that matters so much as what is the same: Life survived higher CO2, temperature and sea levels. Life survived because Earth's climate is a stable system that moderates temperature despite wide variation of factors.
