I think it would be more constructive to state that there is no NETWORK which currently supports this sort of crowdsourcing. If I create a persuasive argument or if I notice something important before others, I should be rewarded with more visibility on the network.

What Scott is demonstrating is that when the moderators use ideology to judge arguments, Twitter breaks the feedback loop which would otherwise motivate people to THINK BETTER. People are simply responding to the rewards system which Twitter has themselves set up.
