Hey @ScottAdamsSays the satellite temperature record is absolutely not “debunked”, and is very relevant to the global warming question. Satellites can measure across vast tracts of ocean and unoccupied land in a way thermometers cannot. It is “real” measurements.https://twitter.com/ClimateRealists/status/1082130868439863296 …

20, 40, and 60 Years: The greenhouse gas effect occurs in the bulk atmosphere. Greenhouse gases cannot cause surface warming if the atmosphere is not warming, and the rate of surface warming.... cannot be greater than the rate of atmospheric warming.... http://www.sepp.org/twtwfiles/2019/TWTW%201-5-19.pdf … pic.twitter.com/qBrhOL6jLE

Are you saying satellites can tell you the ocean temperature with precision from space? 90% of the warming is the ocean.

No, but it covers the atmosphere directly above the oceans (and in unpopulated land areas) which the thermometer records cannot. Therefore strictly more reliable than thermometers. There is other data for the Argo buoy program that has ocean temps.

So we have satellite data since 1979 that doesn't include ocean temperatures which are 90% of the game.

Well, if the atmosphere above the oceans is not warming, then the oceans are not warming from extra CO2. The Greenhouse theory says we should see the strongest signal in the tropospheric temp records.

It may be warming from other causes, such as changes in ocean circulation, and very tough to distinguish.

Judith Curry's blog is one of the very small number we can trust, and she discusses this topic. "Mean global sea level has risen at a slow creep for more than 150 years; since 1900, global mean sea level has risen about 7-8 inches." https://judithcurry.com/2018/11/27/special-report-on-sea-level-rise/ …

"...then the appropriate range of sea level rise scenarios to consider for 2100 is 0.2–1.6 m. Values exceeding 2 feet are increasingly weakly justified." wait... "Further, these values of sea level rise are contingent on the climate models predicting the correct amount..."
